Had to pop back in to share this one ... it made me Lol !!!

For non-Aussies, Kevin Rudd is our current prime minister. Monkey

No offence PM but Kevin Rudd sucks
Article from: The Daily Telegraph
February 23, 2010 06:52am

POLICE are baffled how they did it but the Prime Minister definitely has a problem in Rose Bay (Sydney) - with a large illuminated traffic sign sending the message: "Kevin Rudd sucks".

The sign, which dramatically appeared overnight on New South Head Road, has proven a traffic stopper.

Locals have been stopping their cars to take photographs - and the sign caused such a distraction that the police were called in at 3am today.

Working hard to preserve the Prime Minister's honour, the dedicated police officers took to the power box powering the sign with bolt cutters to turn off the lights.

A couple of wines a day keeps obesity at bay, says study
From: AFP
March 09, 2010 1:10AM

WOMEN who drink a couple of glasses of red wine, beer or spirits a day are better at keeping the pounds off than women who do not drink at all, a study has found.

Researchers at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston asked more than 19,000, normal-weight US women aged 39 or older how many alcoholic beverages they typically drank in a day, and then tracked the women for about 13 years.

The largest single group - 7346 women or just over 38 per cent - said they didn't drink a drop, according to the study published in the Archives of Internal Medicine, a publication of the American Medical Association.

The second biggest group - 6312 women or nearly a third of those surveyed - reported drinking the equivalent of about a third of a 150ml (five ounce) glass of wine or a third of a 360ml (12 ounce) mug of beer. They did not explain how they managed to do so.

Twenty per cent of the women said they drank the equivalent of up to a glass of wine, a mug of beer, or a single-shot drink made with 80-proof spirits, while six per cent said they had up to two drinks a day and three per cent had more than two.

Over the 13-year follow-up period, the women who did not drink at all gained the most weight, and the women who had the equivalent of two drinks a day were the least likely to pack on pounds.

The best drink for keeping the pounds off was red wine, but all four types of tipple included in the study - red or white wine, beer and spirits - showed the same "inverse association between alcohol intake and risk of becoming overweight or obese".

The authors of the study cautioned, however, against making recommendations on alcohol use as a tool against obesity, given the potential medical and psycho-social problems associated with drinking.

The women's alcohol intake was recorded in grams of alcohol.

A 150ml glass of wine, 360ml mug of beer or one mixed drink made with a single, 45ml (1.5 ounce) shot of 80-proof alcohol all contain about 14 grams of pure alcohol and are considered "standard drink sizes" in the US.

Police pick up good vibrations
2010/03/09

A WOMAN in Germany phoned police after hearing “suspicious noises” in her flat, but much to her embarrassment officers found the source was a vibrator.

Police in Bochum in western Germany decided to send a patrol car around to the “scene of the crime”, a statement said.

“Daringly, and with the occupier’s permission, one of the officers opened the drawer of a wardrobe where the noise was coming from.

“Underneath some clothes he found a very personal, battery-operated object which had obviously switched itself on.”

Thief breaks in to cook chicken dinner
* From correspondents in New Jersey * From: NewsCore * March 23, 2010 8:15AM

A HUNGRY burglar in the US broke into a restaurant, cooked himself a chicken and rice dinner and then slipped out again, leaving behind a stack of dirty dishes and $200 in the cash register.

“He just wanted food, that’s it,” website northjersey.com quoted Detective Robert Francaviglia as saying.

“He went in and pulled out a plate, got some chicken out of the freezer, got a rice box and fried up the chicken and rice in the frying pan.

"After he ate, he left.”

Nothing else was taken during the Saturday morning break-in at the Matsu Sushi Grill in New Jersey.

Drunk-Inn Disorderly: Spoof Police Website
3:28pm UK, Friday December 17, 2010
Richard Williams, Sky News Online

Greater Manchester Police have launched a spoof hotel website to warn what awaits party-goers if they drink too much over the festive season.

Police officers 'advertise' the transport to the Drunken Disorderly Inn (<-Click to check it out!! Thumbs up).

At first glance it looks like a glossy website for one of the North West's more prestigious inns.

But with wipe-clean mattresses and sturdy locks on all rooms as standard, a closer look reveals the force are using the site to warn off alcohol-fuelled bad behaviour.

The online brochure for the "Drunken Disorderly Inn" advertises the en-suite facilities on offer, along with the benefit of safe storage - or confiscation - of all major credit cards and belongings.

Other attractions listed include "lots of bars" available.

It also features tongue-in-cheek videos, photographs and details on what it is like to be arrested, booked into custody and spend a night in a prison cell.

Other sections cover how "guests" are transported in "blue-light limousines" - with prices for overnight stays starting at just an £80 fine.

Greater Manchester Police Assistant Chief Constable Garry Shewan explained the thinking behind the parody.

"Although it is tongue-in-cheek it carries a serious message highlighting the cold, stark experience of being taken into custody and how it can damage your reputation, relationships and work prospects.

"For thousands of people in our county a few drinks out in the local bar or club are an integral part of celebrating Christmas and the New Year.

"The vast majority of people do this responsibly ensuring they and others have a good time and go home safe.

"Excessive drinking can however lead to a selfish binge-drinking minority getting involved in drunken violence and anti-social behaviour such as swearing, shouting and criminal damage.

"Please visit this website before you go out and share it with your friends. Enjoy yourself and stay safe this Christmas and remember it's your night out and your choice. Don't spend it with us."

It comes after GMP tweeted details of every 999 call they received over a 24-hour period in October.

can you imagine being his parent???

Pyjama-clad boy, 8, goes for a drive

Police will speak to the parents of an 8-year-old boy caught driving his parent's red SUV around central Wellington in his pyjamas.

The vehicle was spotted driving erratically by TVNZ reporter Lucas De Jong at 5am today.

He saw it clip a parked car, and thought the driver had been drinking.

When the car pulled into the Novotel Hotel, De Jong blocked it in and called police.

A tearful eight-year-old boy climbed out of the car, wearing pyjamas.

Police arrived soon after, Inspector Ian Harris, of police central communications, said.

"The description was of a young male Caucasian in blue patterned pyjamas."

It was believed the boy had clipped several cars and hit a wall.

Acting Wellington emergency response manager Inspector Paris Razos described the incident as "particularly unusual".

``It's definitely not every day that minors as young as eight are behind the wheel. However, this is of concern to us and we are liaising further with the boy's parents to ensure he is aware of the risks involved."

"Luckily the boy and other road users were unharmed. Thankfully the witness took positive action, preventing any potential harm."

The boy was not legally liable for any driving offences committed.

However police would work with him and his family to help the boy understand his actions and the potential consequences, Mr Razos said.

Police took the young boy back to his parents.

He told police he could not sleep and wanted to go and see his friends.

Mr De Jong said the boy was short, and was hunched over the steering wheel with his feet just touching the pedals.

The boy said he had been driving for about 30 minutes.
