First: New Zealand beats Australia to Facebook Timeline

Here's a snap shot of what the new profile page looks like.

WHAT does New Zealand have that we don't?

Our neighbours across the Tasman are the first country to receive Facebook’s new Timeline.

Facebook said the country’s two million users will be given seven days to fill out and modify their Timeline before it becomes available for their friends to view.

“Starting today, we are making Timeline more widely available as we measure speed and other types of performance,” Facebook Project manager Samuel Lessin said in a blog post.

“We'll begin by making it available to people in New Zealand and then roll it out more broadly in the near future.”

The rollout [sic] comes after another Facebook security glitch caused its own CEO's private photos to be made public.

How does it work?

Timeline acts like a digital diary, showcaing [sic] a chronological history of the most important moments in your life collating pictures, videos, significant status updates and event “likes” that have been uploaded to Facebook.

Along with your standard profile picture, the new profile page contains a massive photo which runs across the top of the page.

Facebook apps will also tell your friends what music you are listening to, what you read online and what movies you are watching.

On September 22 Facebook’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg promised the new Timeline and profile page would be rolled out “over the next few weeks”, at the F8 Developer’s Conference in San Francisco.

But the rest of the world is still waiting to see the changes.

A spokesperson for Facebook told news.com.au the new Timeline and profile page would be rolled out internationally over the next few weeks.

However, it is unclear when Australians will get to see the changes.

think Australians have it now.  personally I don't like it, but I guess it'll be standard issue at some stage.
