HI ALL, Thank you thank you for your prayers and kind thoughts!! <3 My family all well and have not heard any bad news amongst friends the death count is now down (? ) to 38 I think... but still plenty of people to be accounted for. Had we not had the earthquake in Sept there would have been a lot more deaths, as people would have been in since destroyed buildings. They are just showing the CBD on tv, but other areas are damaged badly too. it will take a long time before the centre city is normal.......

Thank God you're all OK smilie.
Yes, the city and suburbs will never be the same...it's a very sad time all round. The death toll is rising and wee stories are emerging...some of them absolutely heart wrenching...like the little 9 month old baby killed when a television fell on him during the quake. His parents must be devastated...I know his grandmother is, because she was on national radio last night, poor lady.
Sure wish I could do something.. I have a candle lit with crystals around it and a prayer circle created. I feel so helpless. I am praying for everyone, in particular my cousins there. No news at this stage.
I hope you have comfort and warmth, smilie. So many are now absolutely homeless.
Hugs and hugs and hugs all round

Have heard that my cousins are all safe. Their house isn't though, and they are now homeless. Two of them have already left Christchurch for Wellington, and the others will be leaving in the next day or so for Nelson.
I'm relieved they are safe.
Still praying for everyone in Christchurch and surrounding areas.

I cannot imagine being homeless! so hard for them, and I don't suppose it will be a quick fix. We knew one of the girls that was removed from the PGG building with just squashed fingers, Hubby knows one mother with two small children missing. I guess everyone will know someone. Here, inside, life seems nearly normal. (except fuller house, and unflushed loos) but outside you can regularly hear sirens going. I have not been out of the suburb, and dont think I want to go into town, it has been bad enough after the Sept one. after shocks are still making us feel insecure, but not as bad as the Sept one. Life is weird here, things are canceled, and life is not normal...the city is closed, hard to find petrol, local shops are open, supermarkets people queue up to get inside life is not the same.. but it continues

Death toll 154. still heaps missing... expected to be over 200... but when you look at the photo's it's actually amazing it's not more! http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/christchurch-earthquake/4705106/Photos-Before-and-after-the-Christchurch-earthquakeOur CDB will Never be the same.... but we'll end up with the newest one in New Zealand eh? Bob Parker is amazing (our mayor) He says why keep the old buildings when no one wants to go into the city to see them. so now they will make sure they are as safe as the new buildings. Hubby's work is no good. With the recession, there is a whole lot of empty offices near here, so maybe he'll be closer home I am definitely more rattled this time than last. Does not help that my daughter has to shift (long story) and there won't be much accommodation out there,.. and I do not want her staying her. We have our OE in two months... hopefully things much more settled by then.

Yes, Bob Parker IS amazing...he deserves some sort of national recognition for his tireless work, support and compassion. He's been absolutely amazing...both times!
I cannot imagine the pain all the families are going through who have lost loved ones to this terrible tragedy. I can ONLY imagine the way people must be living on their nerves' edge with every aftershock. My thoughts are with you all.
AMAZING news about the 140 year old time capsules found today in the destruction!!! Can't wait to find out the contents!

Have been sending up prayers and have lit a candle - so sad to hear about all the quakes starting again. Makes one feel SO inadequate, being unable to help in any practical way. Loving thoughts are with you smilie...and to all Cantabrians.

Thank you ... it's quiet again (ie aftershocks are only 3.5's etc) Looks like we'll get these headline hitting ones every few months for a while yet. we all have good habits making sure things are secure.
