Mmmm, I had a look at that link you gave us (great link, btw Grin) and was totally amazed to see the amount of aftershocks.  Yes, we've heard that you're still getting aftershocks, but I really thought it was probably only one here and there, as in every few days!  It's no bloomin' wonder that people are having a hard time coping!!  That'd be very unsettling. Nod yes Blink

Flowers for you

Today was um interesting,  I look at my above post... and think wow, did I think it was stopping then?

http://quake.crowe.co.nz/  will give you a nice chart to see the 'fun' we've been having.
today, boxing day sales... most people were in the shops and malls when a 4.9 hit the epi centre being the CBD.  we were stopped at lights, first thought was that a car had hit us from behind, the sheer force of the rocking. then sirens going shakey buildings, scared faces!
we saw a collapsed brick wall, one store with burst water pipe.  malls were shut down and electricity off. 20 buildings in the CBD with new damage.
driving around the city has been interesting the last few months, and now new bits are cordoned off.
We are lucky where we live, little damage. But most people are finding this very nerve wracking and hard to live with.

Hmmm, I read about that this morning but our press made it sound pretty minor.  I certainly didn't think it would be enough of a problem to be worth asking if you were alright, Smilie. Blush  Relieved to hear that you didn't suffer any damage though. Hug

They said in that video clip (above) that the couple who spoke were "Australian tourists".  Her accent sounded more South African to me! Blink  Anyway, pleased to hear that there were no injuries and hope this is the last of it for you. Unsure

Half the kiwi's are South African now...so who knows/

just had another 4.4 . . . getting rocked to sleep!

(daughter HATES them, but she's close to epi centre and on second floor, so can't really blame her)

Hmm, another rocker for you, Smilie, eh?  I read that it was 5.1 on the Richter Scale this time.  I'm hoping that you're okay?  When is this weather madness gunna stop?! Unsure

Be safe, lovely lady. Hug

Not knowing exactly where you gals are, I was just wondering if you are all ok over there in Aussie? The latest couple of disasters there have been rather mind boggling. I hope all is alright. Hugs and prayers

Smilie's Christchurch has been hit today with a massive and devastating earthquake, with extreme damage (much more than the one in September), and reports of fatalities. Please, everyone, could you send prayers for everyone, their families, friends, colleagues and all the people now helping to search, rescue and aid those trapped, injured and frightened.

Smilie...please, as soon as you can get this, reply and let us know how you and your family are.

Know that everyone is thinking of you with love and heartfelt prayers.

Yes, terrible news.  I'm watching a live stream online now.

Thinking of you all over there.  Thanks, Souly, for letting us know that you're okay.  I know you're a bit further away, but it's been said that the quake has been felt a fair way away (Wellington and Dunedin have been mentioned).

Stay safe, Smilie and family; I'm thinking of you. Hug

I've just read that 65 people have died, such a tragedy, still waiting for my friend Bronwyn, from high school to log onto facebook... Sad

At this point in time, 65 confirmed dead, with that number certain to rise as rubble is moved and buildings cleared. It is a shocking, shocking event and the city is simply devastated. People are frightened, many are homeless as their already weakened homes (from the September earthquake) have now been destroyed. It is a very grim and sad situation...and shocks are still happening, some quite large. Prayers for them all...they have a very long, wet, cold night ahead.

I have just heard that smilie and family are all fine. Sorry, that is all I know at this stage, but at least it's good news.
