'My' Music

I can't believe that we don't yet have a thread just for music! Well, here it is.
Thought I'd share this one which I've heard a bit on the radio recently. It was released last year (2009) but I'm a bit slow on catching these things! Anyway, I really like this ...
Like the River
Yes, it's on YouTube too (see spoiler), but I recommend that you just listen first.

Oh, I'm over the moon tonight!
Bought a new stereo (cheapie) system today and am THOROUGHLY enjoying listening to 'my' music.
Right now, it's Richard Marx, Eric Carmen, Sinead O'Connor, Cher (to name the last four artists) and a beaut eclectic mix of, well, 'my' music!
Remind me to expand on 'my' music sometime please?!!

I guess I'm just a lover of music!
To me, anything with either good lyrics or a foot-tapping rhythm is 'good' music!
I love all sorts: from jazz, country, popular classical to pop, rock, oldies and so on.
I haven't yet got to grips with some of the new-fangled names for certain genres of music, such as Indie and Trance, so I can't comment on them at this stage. I will, however, say that what I
don't
like is boring rap (a very small amount of it is okay!) and really heavy 'metal'/electric guitars played badly, imo.
Some of my faves (and they are
many
):
Pink Floyd
Dido
Norah Jones (yes, and Bonnie Raitt too! And, of course, Eva Cassidy
)
Phil Collins
... oops, I mean this one!
Billy Joel, who's definitely improved with age (superb sax!)
Motown
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uYPyyPf520Q&feature=related
... hard to pick just one but this is worth a look
and another
Oh, goodness me, I've completely side-tracked myself now!
And I've only been posting this for the last, ahmmm, X hours!!
Look at the list below!
I'd better get on with it. Hmmm, wonder if you're still following me and checking the links?!!
Louis Armstrong
Barbra Streisand
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wnJvNZspMao&feature=related
Yes, I know I could've picked a more recent, better sounding clip
but I love all of hers, old or new; beautiful, gorgeous lady ... and, watch for a 'special guest' or two, including
another, unforgettable great
... this one's for me
Neil Diamond
I digress totally, but this is worth adding: Mary Hopkins
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8G1QvkHpGNo&feature=related
As with
most
all(!) of these clips, bleddy hard to pick just one, but this is probably one of my earliest memories of ...
Queen
and another bleddy difficult pick, but I've
got
to get on with this post!
- Abba
Elton John
]
Eagles
Van Morrison
Jimmy Buffett
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LL9O0B0gzZE&feature=related
(probably not the best one of his to choose!!
If you can't cope with that, try this one.
If nothing else, you have to admire the garb and the backdrop!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MUTf5qvS0Lo&feature=related
Then again, there's always the 'other' baked beans song!
Oh God, where am I going?!!
Jack Johnson perhaps?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPXU33iquDE&feature=related
Hmmm, I have a sneaking suspicion that, by now, you've realised that the 70s was 'my' era!
Blackmore's Night, just for summat different.
and a couple of my forever faves ...
Anne Murray
The Carpenters
Karen Carpenter has/had the most wonderful voice
The links are just examples.

An interesting selection of songs, Dingbat. I just got a new Ipod Nano, and have been having fun putting songs on it. I have to keep a piece of paper in the car, and when I hear a song I like, I write it down, so I can find it and put it in. I've discovered some songs that I didn't even realize that I liked, but they're fun to listen to.
This one always perks me up when I listen to it on my way to work:

This one is a favorite of my husband's, and I discovered that I really like it too:
And I like 'My Maria' a lot, either the original by B.W. Stevenson
(I don't know what the video portion is all about)
or the version by Brooks and Dunn is just as good
(interesting video that goes along with this one, good for you 'smiley' fans)
I like lots of other songs, but too many to post here.

Find a Way by Mojada - I heard this on the radio for the first time yesterday and loved it - the band is from Bondi!

If you like acoustic guitar, you will LOVE this lad. He doesn't write music...he doesn't read music...he simply picks up the guitar and plays.

clicky clicky and then scroll down a tad to 'songs' and you can listen to his magic!
