You've come to wonder what your teen or other teens are talking about? You don't understand their lingo? You have instances of confusion with your teen and have since discovered, or need to discover, the meaning of what they said?
Well, here's the place to do it!!!

Are teens using the same language world-wide...or are there some words or phrases teens use in different countries? We'd all love to hear/learn them...

So please help us out by posting your teen language experiences and/or finds.

And moving right along...here's a good start to understanding a few of the words/phrases/abbreviations thrown around by teens these days...

Allow (that): means "absolutely no way”.

Big up: to praise or congratulate someone.

CBA: "can't be arsed"

Cool beans: an exclamation of high regard, similar to "great!"

Frape: a compound of Facebook and rape, describing someone's social networking profile being hacked into and changed.

Long: an adjective used to describe something as irritating, time-consuming or boring.

Neek: a combination of nerd and geek.

Obv: abbreviation for obvious.

Owned: to be humiliated or embarrassed, usually after being shown up or exposed in some way.

SDW: abbreviation for secret degree workers, who pretend to be out having a good time and avoiding work but are really putting in the hours.

Smacked it: to have done well at a particular activity.

Teek: adjective for very old – older. Derives from "antique".

Tell over: describes the actions of a tattle tail.

Wagwan: a greeting. Stands for "What's going on?"

Waste: someone who acts in an idiosyncratic way.

Woop woop: a noise made to denote happiness or congratulate someone

That was a list I came across when I was doing some research on teenagers' behaviour...I personally haven't heard of most of them. Perhaps NZ kids are different...but to be honest, I know there are a lot of things they say that are perplexing! lol

like...

meh

and here are a few definitions for meh!

Meh is a word you use when you arent ok, but you arent too bad either and you dont really wanna talk about it cus you aint in the mood

a sound often times made when over tired, and very slaphappy.

random outburst.
